Portsmouth Aviation is pleased to announce that it is now a provider of a replacement cartridge for aircraft weapon release. The product range of cartridges will be called Clean Burn Cartridges (CBC).
Following the Company’s close working relationship between the US DOD and UK MOD, PA identified the need for a more reliable cleaner burning cartridge.
A team of companies was formed under PA management and with the support of QinetiQ as evaluator, replacement ARD 446 (CBC 4) and ARD 863 (CBC 1) are now available. Through the product development phase the CBCs had improved performance characteristics. A further benefit was that once fired it was clearly evident that there is less residue in the breach mechanism, therefore a further benefit is that less cleaning will be required thus lowering in service costs.
The cartridges have currently been supplied to both the DGM IPT and Typhoon IPT.
The identification and production of this product is a true reflection of PA’s ability to be both flexible and innovative whilst able to work closely with the customer.
